Labour Leader Keir Starmers First Speech Of The General Election Campaign

Labour leader Keir Starmer's first speech of the general election campaign

'I am shocked and appalled by events in Israel'

Labour leader Keir Starmer has delivered a speech at his Labour Party's annual conference.

In his speech, Starmer condemned the "senseless murder of men, women and children, including British citizens" in Israel. He said that he was "shocked and appalled" by the events and that he "utterly condemns" the violence.

Starmer's speech comes after the Labour Party reached the threshold of 326 seats, granting them a parliamentary majority. This means that Labour is now the largest party in the House of Commons.

In his speech, Starmer outlined his vision for the country. He said that he wants to "build a fairer, more just society" and that he believes that "the only way to do that is by working together."

Starmer also spoke about the challenges facing the country. He said that the country is "facing a cost of living crisis, a climate crisis and a housing crisis." He said that he has a "plan to tackle these challenges and build a better future for everyone."

Starmer's speech was well-received by the Labour Party faithful. It remains to be seen whether he can translate this support into votes at the next general election.
